I charge £18 (sterling) per hour. Expenses
such as certificates and photocopies are charged at cost. I usually
advise that you purchase only 3 or 4 hours work at first since this
is often sufficient to solve a simple enquiry and may provide some
idea of the cost of a more complex one.
Cheques
should be made payable to Gill Blanchard.
I can
accept credit card, debit card and foreign currency payments through the
online payment services PayPal and NOCHEX. Please click on the the
method you choose.

Please add £2.00 sterling to all credit card and international
currency payments under £50 to
cover conversion fees. Thank you.
For currency
conversion values, the Financial Times $\£ rate for the day
of payment will apply. Go to:—

I provide
a professional service.
To this end I undertake to
proceed with work in the following ways.
|
|
I
guarantee to start all work within six weeks of receipt of payment,
unless otherwise agreed. |
|
|
I
will provide regular written progress and activity reports by
email, fax or letter as required |
 |
All
reports will be typed and include details of sources (and references
as required). |
 |
As
I enter work straight into a laptop computer, additional typing
time and therefore costs, are minimised. |
 |
I will not exceed the time commissioned without prior agreement. |
|
|
I
will arrange for any necessary photocopying and ordering of certificates
etc. at cost. |
|
|
I
will always give my best advice on the most appropriate actions
to take in the event of problems, dead ends or uncertain results. |
|
|
On
rare occasions I may make use of other researchers where their
specific areas of expertise will improve the quality of service.
However, I will always remain your main contact for the work. |
 |
Family
History can be a challenging and time consuming exercise. The
more you wish to find out and the further back you want to get,
the more time and effort will be needed. |
|
|
Although I will endeavour to exhaust all possibilities in the
search for your ancestor(s), it must be recognised that in some
cases the historical sources are inadequate, have been lost or
destroyed and that sometimes it will not be possible to find the
proofs you are seeking. |
|
|
I
archive all material to CD ROM and retain it for a
minimum of 5 years from the completion of work
unless otherwise agreed. All work is treated as
confidential and belongs to the client. I always
act in full compliance with the Data Protection
Act 1998 and, without your prior written
authority, will not pass on any details of you or
your research interests to a third party. |
